HR Generalist

Premier's Direct Hire team in the East Bay is looking for a rockstar HR Generalist or our client in the nanotechnology space in Alameda. This person should have 5+ years of HR experience, including employee relations. Experience in a start-up environment highly preferred.  


  • Serve as primary point of contact when employees have questions or need help with People Operations topics, including but not limited to employee relations, benefits enrollment and management, workers’ compensation, and leave administration
  • Be the resident expert and program administrator for policies and processes that help us stay legally compliant, including employee handbook, personnel file management, wage and hourly (FLSA) compliance, ADA compliance, international expansion, and OSHA and safety administration
  • Optimize and manage processes and tools as part of employee life cycle, including onboarding, transfers, departures, time tracking software, and HRIS (BambooHR, Gusto, etc)
  • Champion culture, values, and norms in all interactions, processes, and policies


Must Have:                 

  • BA/BS degree and 5+ years of PeopleOps and HR Compliance experience
  • Exceptional focus on putting people first - natural enjoyment from meeting new people, building strong relationships, providing excellent customer service, and helping others succeed
  • Trusted advisor - a talent for communication and earning trust with diverse people and job functions
  • Master organizer - a love for details and organizing, from complex legal compliance to daily operations

Nice to have:                              

  • Experience in a rapidly growing start up 
  • HR Compliance certification, e.g. PHR or SCHRM-CP
